Riverbend West is a rustic nature experience with limited recreational development in keeping with the natural character of the site, designed in keeping with the mission and objectives of the project’s partners, the Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy and the City of Bay City. A restoration project at its core, Riverbend West includes an accessible trail from the street frontage of the property to a viewing space perched overlooking the Saginaw River, extensive site cleanup, and replacement of invasive vegetation with beneficial native wildflowers, grasses, and trees. Featuring interpretive signage highlighting flora and fauna and site history and passive recreation amenities like boulders for rest and relaxation. Due to the legally protected nature of the site, no active recreational amenities will be developed at Riverbend West. This nature area is an interpretive rustic natural site with beneficial, beautiful native vegetation and a secluded experience along the Saginaw River.
How to get to Riverbend West:
Riverbend West is located at 480 Marquette Street, Bay City, MI 48706. Park in the parking lot for Defoe Park across the street and access the nature area via the sidewalk and crosswalk that crosses Marquette Street.
