The Eickholt-Pressprich Nature Preserve was donated to the Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy by Charlotte Eickholt Pressprich in 2006 in honor of her late husband Robert. Prior to being donated to SBLC, the land was being considered as a condominium development site. This 48.7 acre property is composed mainly of wetlands which improve water quality by filtering pollutants. It serves as a ground water recharge area and provides a special habitat for a variety of species. This preserve is home to frogs, turtles, deer, waterfowl, and wildflowers, including white flowered beard's tongues, fringed and bottled gentians, wild sunflowers, and blue flag irises. Eickholt-Pressprich serves as an excellent landfall spot for migrating songbirds and serves as an excellent stopover habitat for the huge influx of warblers that cruise up the Lake Huron shoreline.

In late 2014, Charlotte donated an additional adjacent half-acre parcel containing Lake Huron frontage, securing shoreline habitat and recreational access for the enjoyment of preserve visitors.

How to get to Eickholt - Pressprich Nature Preserve:

To visit the Eickholt-Pressprich Nature Preserve, turn south off US-23 onto South Tonkey Road. The preserve can be accessed by parking along the north side of East Michigan Avenue near the intersection with South Tonkey Road. The trailhead is located here and there is a small wooden footbridge across a ditch to access the property.

Recreational opportunities include hiking and wildlife observation.
